Smart Alerts®

Smart Alerts use algorithms to continuously analyze sample data on all patients in the eCareManager database to help clinicians identify trends toward potential problems. As a result, clinicians are able to intervene sooner and keep problems from developing into serious conditions.

Heart Rate Trend prompt is triggered when there is a defined increase in heart rate trend above the patient’s established baseline over a fixed time period (the baseline value is in brackets followed by the triggered value).

There are three types of Smart Alerts:

Patient Status Alerts identify a change in patient status that requires prompt attention by bedside clinicians. These Smart Alerts are presented to a dedicated monitoring team that can evaluate the problem and respond appropriately.
Care Issue Alerts highlight care issues that clinicians may need to address.
Process Reminder Alerts are used to notify clinicians at the point of care that a specific care process requires modification. These low-level alerts often include hypertext links to reference material in The Source.
